Look and design
Gionee F103 Pro is available in white, gold and gray color options having weight around 140 gms. It is a 4G smartphone that comes with 5-inchs (12.7 cm) HD IPS touchscreen displayhaving 1280×720 resolution. It’s responsive 2.5D curved edge touch screen display and smooth curved body gives an impressive look.
There is a nice contrast, color accuracy and viewing angles in the display but the screen seems a little bit dull in sunlight even in full brightness. Also, you may feel disturbance while reading in bright light because of its reflective screen.
While testing we found that its three non-illuminated navigation keys at the bottom of the display also work fine even after a long hour of usages.
Gionee F103 Pro operates on latest android platform Marshmallow 6.0. It is topped with simplified and easy to use Amigo 3.2 UI (user interface). Amigo is Gionee’s customized UI for superb user experience. Amigo has some useful features including child mode, Amiclone and Super screenshot. Notifications and other functions are separated using pull up and pull down menus. Overall UI is perfect and well designed for users.
Gionee F103 pro runs on 1.3 GHz quad core processor with RAM of 3 GB which gives it super smooth performance without any lagging. It easily supports browsing, chatting, heavy games and multitasking without any problem except minor heating. It offers an internal memory of 16GB of which about 7GB is already reserved for system files. At the same time, memory can be expanded up to 128GB using the SD card.
It is dual sim phone and both slots support 4g micro sim cards. It supports 2G, 3G, 4G, VoLTE, and CDMA. Other connectivity options include WI-FI 802.11, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, FM and OTG cable support. It supports headphone, Compass/Magnetometer, and Proximity sensor. It can be connected to PC for charging, file transfer and net connection using USB cable.
Gionee F103 offers a removable battery with the capacity of 2400mAh. It has very poor battery backup. While testing, we found that it discharges completely in 4 Hrs of continuous gaming. Battery standby is not sufficient to keep the phone running the whole day. Actually, it uses the same battery as in Gionee F103.
Also, phone get heated while charging, video recording and hours of high-end gaming. It takes about 2 hours to fully recharge the battery. It has a special mode called extreme mode which increases battery standby time by shutting down all other functions and allows to use only clock and calls.
Gionee F103 pro features 13-megapixel rear camera with flash and 5-megapixel front camera. Although it lacks flash in front camera but the special feature called screen flash makes screen bright enough to take clear selfies. The quality of pictures taken by the rear camera in bright light is of clear depth and dynamic range but noise level increases in dim light.
Amigo provides unique flavored chameleon theme which allows to choose theme color using the camera. The camera offers some other features like text recognition, HDR, face beauty, panorama and gif maker with sufficient detailing. It supports minor photo editing like cropping, changing brightness/hue/color and rotation.
If you want a smartphone which is easy to use with the latest operating system and attractive look, you can go with it. If you want a phone for high-end gaming and better battery backup you should look for other alternatives.
